VOLUNTEERING FOR THE FILM FESTIVAL
Festival Positions
The Durango Independent Film Festival is run entirely by volunteers with the exception of a few technical positions. Each year 150 volunteers are needed to make the festival happen. Volunteers help in the following areas:
Theaters
Tickets and Will Call
Hospitality
Merchandise
Print and PR
Events
Administrative Support
The vast majority of volunteer help is needed during the festival. Volunteers typically work approximately 15 hours and receive a pass to see 4 or 5 films when they are not working - one film for each 3 hours volunteered, with a minimum commitment of 12 hours. 50 volunteers are needed during the festival to staff the theaters alone, and this is the place most volunteers start their work with the festival.
Year-Round Positions
There are also a few volunteer staff or year-round positions open. These typically require a minimum of 60 - 100 hours over the course of the year and provide an opportunity for intimate involvement with the festival and its operations. A small amount of work may be needed during the Summer with more activity starting in the Fall preceding the festival (ie: Fall 2011 for March 2012 festival)
